how come nobody ever gets tired of it? it's even mainstream now (or maybe has been for awhile, with even eboy etc. doing illustrations for maxim etc. the bell commercials are sweet, and funny). i'm not saying im tired of them (i never get tired of any design cliche, really, assuming pixel art is/becomes one), i'm just wondering why nobody has complained about it. read again: i do not have a problem with it. i do not have a problem with it. i do not have a problem with it. what i do have a problem with, however, are members reading the first sentance of posts and hitting 'react' but that is a whole different story altogether. ayo.

i would say vector art is the same "cliche".?

because it twangs our nostalgia nerve in an atari type way.
lets face it, pixelism is rad dud3

isn't everything a cliche because a cliche excists only by a certain amount of repetition on such a level where it will get noticed? you can also say that without cliches it wouldn't get noticed in the first place.

avoiding the so called 'cliché' is a cliché in itself... I just do what I want but try and do it to a standard and of a style in which it is justifiable and not just for the sake of it.. that way it avoids looking cliché but seems fitting and takes on a life of its own.
well, thats what I hope anyhow!

which in itself is a cliche as well.
i have no problems with cliches. they do have a function or else they wouldn't be here.

so you are saying that everything is a cliché basically then rabattski? I dont think so.

rakso4: well you got me there pardner... ehm.... i think it depends on how you would define cliche. from a neutral point of view it's just a repetition. but cliche tends to be used/defined as a negative expression. so from a neutral point of view, yes, if it's not a cliche it's an experiment or a unique object. repeat that experiment or duplicate those objects more than enough and you'll have a cliche. from a negative point of view e.g. copying styles etc. then hells no not everything is a cliche. so it really depends on how you would define a cliche. i mean, basically it's an object used for printing, for duplicating.

cliche smechesseee...
i think pixel art has a tiny bit more longevity to it because its the base of almost all forms of onscreen and visual digital art.
you know what i mean? I think pixel art has a certain humility to it, a desire not to fool the eye like the sick little puppy 'anti-aliasing'. Pixel art chooses to celebrate and respect its own clunkiness. Hmmm, ahh forget it I obviously can't translate my thoughts into words...bugger
