I am looking to venture into bedroom djing and am looking for a suitable package. As i am new to this I have been recommended going for a cd package rather then vinyl due to the high cost of starting a vinyl collection and the ease of cutting your own cds.
Anyone with any advice??
now of any good retailers in the uk...
I think i have settled on this:

nothing beats vinyl but they have those Ejay Mixman consoles that work well.

I usually DJ CD's now(making the switch to laptop), and love the feel of Pioneer CD players the most. Although, every Pioneer CD player that my friends own are broken or have some electrical or mechanical problem. I play outdoor parties in the desert and mountains.. and a friend recommended the American DJ CD players for their duarabliity... the feel is not as great as Pioneers, but I have taken these CD players to harsh conditions and they still work flawlessly..

can't go wrong with vinyl - every party has decks - not all have cd decks (in my experience)
these are the best that i've ever used - the vinyl emulation thing makes it more intuitive and it is probably partly this that bumps the price. plus the more you spend the better the sound you'll get out of them. those technics look very tasty (and expensive)

and before you do anything else read this book.

don't worry if you can't spend loads - buy whatever you can afford - if you can master it on the cheaper equipment - you'll shine on the expensive shit!

ad1, that's very good advice.

has anyone used the Pioneer CDJ100s??
And i also have the option of getting a cheaper mixer with the CDJ100s then the DJM300s provided with it.... Is it worth the extra ££ for the DJM300?
- TransFatty0
damn that was educational.
sounds and scratches exactly like vinyl.
plus, in this case, since we didnt have the sample handy which needed to be scratched, we just recorded it into a microphone, burned to cd , and then scratched it up
