mac malfunctions (ibook)

bought my ibook 4 months ago, and i allready have
1 dead pixel.
1 dead key ( my down key )has anyone had problems with this?
im thinking that my only hope is either a replacement keyboard,
or applecare..
is there anywhere in osx where i can check out key assignments,, maybe bypass this annoyance temporarily by assigning the down key to another key?help mee pleaseee

my ibook (white 500mhz)'s dvd tray catch stopped working just after a year in, keys have fallen off and it should be steam powered it's running so slow under osx.

I have a PB G3 pismo 500Mhz.
after 10 months the hard disk refused any work. got that replaced by the guarantee.
known problem: DVD player stopped working after one year and a couple of weeks.
But:
I have the PB for three years now and it still kicks nuts.
It was dropped to the ground twice and not a scratch.
