Anyone know of a place to order really creative cd and business card packaging? I'd like some a bit out of the ordinary.

You probably already know of Coudals latest, right? http://www.jewelboxing.com/

No I haven't. Have you seen these in person? They look pretty good.

I have some from Japan which I believe is the same model - they are nice, I'm afraid to break them like I would (much too often) w/ a normal CD case, but it hasnt happend yet.

We did this a while ago on a Friday and we'll give it another go. Ten bucks off for NT reader who want to try our Jewelboxing system between today and tomorrow at midnight. Use this link:

What's the deal with those cases at jewelboxing.com? I always avoided those because it required special die-cutting for the traycard or inlay. Have things changed a bit? Are these more accepted now?

The paper that serves as the tray-liner is a fairly complicated diecut but it comes pre-perforated and scored, so you just print it and then pop it out, fold it and assemble the case. Before we started the JB thing we made our own using an exacto knife and that's not too bad if you're just doing one or two..

for just a few, that's cool. But I was, at one time, considering it as an option when I was working for a CD duplication company. And I still do plenty of design for musicians that occasionally look for alternatives to the nrm. But the cost of that die-cut insert was just too high. I really dig the large area the packaging gives to visuals and how thin they are. Just wish there was a design without the need for a die-cut.

Aside from our complete systems we sell the pre-cut paper in bulk if you wanna avoid making your own die. Then you just take our sheets to your printer. The insert book is a simple rectangle with a fold and is easy to produce. The diecut gives you the abilty to put images on all 4 'spines' of the case and it makes for real precision finish.
