Wondering how you all work the situation of family constantly asking you to help with the website you built for them? and designing anything they ask for and helping them with any computer problems they have?

vena has the correct answer, I managed to pull that off aswell, if any family ever needs anything doing or a place to stay or whatever they always ask my sister and never even consider asking me, its great.

I moved across the state, that didnt stop them, my grandmother called me one night, like 10 times to ask for me to fix her PC, each time i was unavailable for her call.
she left me this nasty Voice mail about how i never call them and i could at least have the decency to return her calls,
mind you this is after 3 MONTHS of not hearing one word from my mother, grandmother or any other relatives on the other side of the state.
And JOY, this thanksgiving i get to be there and all i will here is "my computer is doing this...." AHHHH I CANT STAND IT, I am telling them all to get a MAC

i threaten to "pull it out".
but seriously, if it aint for my pops, ma or brother, i offer to give them the name of someone who isnt "as busy" but will do it for "a fair price".
man i like "quote" marks "today" "."

Can good friends literally be the same thing?
I've been asked to do a site recently for a friend's car lot he just opened, both in person lot and buying/selling on ebay.
After asking around on here because many aspects of the site are a bit over my head, it was obvious that a site that extensive would be well over $1,000.
But I knew telling my friend that, he would feel like I wasn't "cutting him a deal."
Hell, I don't even know if I'd have the time to do a site half of what he referenced (a site he saw)
I've thought about telling him I'd do it for $1K, half up front and it will take a couple months. But I hate how I have this feeling he expects to pay a few hundered to me and that's it.

I tell friends that I dont have time to take on anything new that isnt contributing to my bottom line.
or use the old standard "what have you done for me ,lately"
generally shuts people up.

You´re missing out the obvious solution: Interns. When they´re done buring downloaded DVD's for you, there should still be plenty of time for them to update the family site w/ pics from your latest holiday.

If you'd decide to do their stuff, play around with some good ideas you've been meaning to do for ages.
