Im tring to import a txt. file from blogger.com in a... flash text field. Flash is ignoring most of the html tags in the file. I am able to set links but, I can not set the links colors. Im stuck. Should I try to set a CSS sheet?Oh yeah formating is a bicth to. Has anyone run into this problem? Any help would be much apprec.

why not use the xml rss feed from blogger? they should have one (just like movabletype and every other decent cms out there).
flash can read and write xml without problems. it will work better than a text file, and you can focus on formatting and display more thoroughly.

if you absolutely have to, you can always loop through the text and add font tags wrapping the anchors.

As a security measure Flash will not read xml external to your website. You'll need a local PHP script to parse the XML/RSS feed from blogger.

sparker: he's taking text that has inline anchors... i haven't looked at the xml blogger generates, but i'm assuming it uses CDATA for posts. you're still going to have to either use MX with CSS or loop through and throw in those font tags to get a colour differentation for anchors...
or is the lack of sleep catching up with me?

Would it be better to just set up a database through mysql.
The reason for me even using blogger is because it is free. And I am not getting paid for this site.

I actually thinks that's a smart move. The concept behind blog is quite simple. You can have a very simple mySQL table saving your text [title and description], timestamp [time of posting]. This together with a form to post the bog content and/or to erase/rewrite certain posts.
Than just retrieve it using PHP and format the way you desire.

hey, thanks to all for the input.

i can't locate an rss feed on any of the blog sites i looked at (from blogger). i know that xml is used in the software...but there doesn't seem to be a visible feed.
hm. oh well.
the database option is a good idea as well.
yea. that sounds right. to add formatting you would use css within mx to handle links and text...etc.
as far as using blogger, you might want to check these options out if you have access to the server so you can install things.

Wow one of the very few threads where a smart a$$ reply like:
"make it yourself"
would have actually been usefull!
Seriously though, I tried the whole diary/message board flash thingy a while back but I lost interest when I had problems with formatting. Good luck!

why not use XML for this.
