Can I buy a third party DVD-R drive for my G4 Mac? If so... which brand. Has anyone had success with this?
Thanks

Does anyone know if there is firmware out for the new MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-816? I wanna change my region codes and not have to worry about not being able to play movies when I get back to Canada.

i bought the ol' pioneer standard superdrive which replaced my internal dvd/cd-rom drive in my even much older G4..
it was something like 170 euros, should be even cheaper now.
but this thing is hella slow with burning DVD's!
If you have a bit of extra cash left go for the external LaCie, much better imho!
oh and never burn dvd's from your Mac desktop but use Toast!
