I am looking for a pixel font that is closest to aliased Verdana 10pt.
I need to do some masking, but flash cant seem to mask dynamic text.
thanks in advance.

you can mask dynamic text:
- select the text
- click "character" in the properties window
- under "embed font outlines for:" select "all characters"
- click "done"and there you go...should work...did for me

if i embed the font outlines, i will not be getting aliased text - which is what i need.
the only way to get aliased system fonts, as far as i know, is to 'not have fonts embedded', or have 'use system fonts' checked off.
now here is my problem, when you have these options selected, you can not mask the font box.
So the only way to keep the look of a system/aliased font is to be able to embed the font outlines from a specific pixel font..

couple on there..not sure if its close enough to what you want

man you don't even need to do all that. You can use Verdana as a regular font in Flash.

try masking it as aliased. or doing any alpha effect to it.. unless i am doing something completely wrong - i was under the impression that this was not possible.
i repeat: i do not want the font to be smoothed/antialiased.

use Flash's default sanserif device font: _SANS [on the top of the list].
players 6.071 and above [not the test player you'll only be able to see this in a browser or using MX 2004] will allow to use masked device fonts. As long as the masks are rectangular.
enjoy.
