New Flash Concept!

Check this out, a guy in my class has come up with this great idea. Interaction with flash using your webcam, he's using hit test with colour and movement. Here's a recorded demo.

hows he getting the colour from the image??
i.e. how does he read the value of the pixel in the movie?
if its not flash doing that, then whats he using?

I've seen this a couple of times. I don't think it's your friend's idea, but it has promise.

found out how to read the pixel value now.. not very pretty at all.
I would tell your friend to use Director or Processing.
Flash just can't handle that about parsing data..
Unless he's using a way to gather the data and create a turbo parser for the ammount of texk coming in..

this is what he's just said.." i am using 2 packages... visual basic and flash, visual basic is responsible for communicating to webcam, gettring image and detecting movememnt, it send the details to flash. flash draws an invisible polygon on the stage that represents the movememnt, then everything in flash does hittest with the movement polygon."

I saw something quite similar indeed on the deekons site yesterday. There's like a couple of videoclips. I think it's using a webcam as well??! I dont know much about it so....
