why when I'm editing text in dreamweaver the linefeed after a [return] is so large but not so for text cut+pasted from wordpad?
should I just edit text in an external editor?

i think i know what you're talking about...
try pressing shift when you hit return [SHFT+ENTER]
you'll get what you want then i think, lol

come on, i type a line of body text in dreaweaver, hit return and the linespacing is very wide but the same text cut+pasted from wordpad is fine --- is there no way of adjusting linespacing in dreamweaver?

DW auto-inserts the evil [p] tag while you need the [br] tag..
[br /] in XHTML ofcourse.
