How do I use selective jpg compression in Photoshop? It's probably right in front of my face but I seem to be missing it. Thanks!

not sure what you mean?

applying different levels of compression to different parts of the jpg. Detailed portions could have less compression than solid areas.

Make an alfachannel, preferably w/ a big dose of feather applied to make the difference in compression less visible. When you go to Save for web , thereĀ“s a little mask box right next to quality you can click to select the alfa.

hey jk, have you gotten any good results using this method? I'm trying it and it doesn't seem to improve the file size at all.

in PS7 & CS you can mask the text layers specifically.
check box's in the text dialogue.
