Anyone from there, been there, know people from there, heard good bad rumors, etc ?
Trying to figure out where I'm moving next and the cost of living there doesn't look to steep and I hear the job market is decent too.

Let me know if you hear anything too. Used to live there 4 years ago and am looking to get back. The area is pretty cool, a lot cleaner than most larger cities. All good as long as you know how to drive in 6 inches of snow. :)

gabriel did you enjoy your time there? I can handle the snow as I grew up at the northern point of New York about 5 mins from canada.

It was great, which is why I'm hoping to get back there in a few years eventually. I know I sound old and lame when I say this, but, it's a good place to raise kids.....damn I'm getting old.

I lived in Minneapolis for 23 years and I can't wait to get back. If you can stand a good cold winter it's fantastic.
The cost of living is great as well as finding work.

i'm in the midst of living there now... attempting to find a job, but would much rather do freelance though.. i'm finding it kind of tough because the whole city (design wise) seems to have closed their doors to non in-house workers. Basically i'm finding that no studios or agencies are contracting outside their walls:-
anywhoo... maybe i'm just getting a certain end of it or something, or maybe it will take me a while to get on my feet here, but at the moment i've found that the design community is scrambling to stay alive (sans target and a small number of choice studios).
just make sure to plan before you move:-)

oh, and as always, the snow is the best part;-)
we got a small dusting this morning, but was all melted by 3. at least rush hour down here really only is about an hour:-)

I've heard lots of good things about the city, with a warning of snow to finish it off always. If that's the worst it has to offer then I can surely handle it.
I suppose there aren't many places where the economy is booming but I've generally heard positive things about the job market there.
I'm thinking I'll plan a trip out there in January to scope things out. Right now cost of living is a huge factor for my skiimpy wallet. I've yet to find a big city like this with decently priced living accomodations.

oh, the cost of living is the best part!
it's nice to be able to live in a nice place anywhere around the city with money left over.
and yeah, the snow really is the only bad part, but hey, you get used to it:-)
that and, having spent some time in chicago, the traffic in mpls is a nice change.

It's a great place to visit... and live in!
I wouldn't live anywhere else truth be told.
