Your boss' friends sound like a bunch of pretty dumb people, you should take adantage and have some fun while at it.
Option (1)
Design an amazing logo. Present them the logo on a mounted piece along with disk. On the mounted piece, place text in fine print that the logo is for comp only, you retain ownership and full copyright. A few days after they use the logo on every company marketing piece, inform then that they gotta pay you for you work or put up with the consequences.Option (2)
Steal a logo from a known company by just chaning the name with their company name. Like microsoft or adobe. If they realize what you did, just laugh and pretend it was a joke. Otherwise wait until the logo is on use by them and contact the company in which you stole the art, give them your boss' friend's email address so that their lawers can contact him.
