Just got a new Powerbook fired it up and all is fantastic except I can't select OS9 as a start up disk - a real pain in the arse as I use my Powerbook in OSX for work and OS9 for performing music. Any ideas anyone?

how 'new'?
if it's BRAND new, then it won't EVER boot into OS 9. all the new hardware is OS X only. OS 9 has gone bye-bye...
otherwise, if it is a machine capable of booting into OS 9, i can't imagine why it wouldn't...

does your music stuff not work in Classic?
- newtasty0
Yeah it's brand new.
Oh crap. Does anyone know if there is any way I can down grade my OS?
Oh well.

Going into System Prefs >Classic> Start Classic when you log in
Doesn't work?

Yeah it runs kind of weird in classic there is some latency issues. Nevermind. I will come up with something.

hello? Are you seeing our responses?
Why arent you using Classic to run the old apps?
- ribit0
oh.. but it's your only option if its a recent pbook. Maybe it works better in 10.3?

you can boot into 9, here's how
run all 4 discs of software restore, that will put 9.2.2 on your hard drive, then select as startup.
That worked on the last g4 towers, hopefully it will on the powerbooks as well
- newtasty0
Yeah that sounds like a plan but you don't even get all the regular software restore disks. You only get one disk with it.
