hi kids,
I'm a bit new to this new fangled computer video thing. Can anyone tell me how to unlink a mask to it's layer, so i can transform the layer with out the mask moving. (like in photoshop) I must be missing something really simple.
apologises for being thick, please help. cheers kids

you have to put a keyframe for mask shape and another for position and then just use the pan-behind tool to only move the contents of the layer, not the mask.

STEP 1:
Select the "Pan Behind" tool in the toolbox. (it's the dotted box with a compass looking thing inside, 3rd down from top right, or just press "Y" as keyboard shortcut)SETP 2:
Click inside the mask area in the Composition window and drag the layer to a new position.
The layer will move and your mask will not :-)
