Those of you saying, "I would never wear a tie" or say "I would wear trainers and cargos"
What kind of places are you/have you interviewed in that this is your idea of how you'd dress?
I'm guessing small shops, nothing of size like going to a big agency. There are certain places, though, that you wouldn't even be let in the door in something that casual.
That's not to say that some big agencies would make you wear a tie every day...
Rather, it's that they're not going to take you looking unprofessional and such.
Depends on the def. of "professional" as well, I think.

i always wear suits, you won't ever loose an interview for turning up in a suit but you might ig you turn up in your 'jesus is coming.... look busy' t-shirt

Think it's probably more laid back in the UK. Interviews are usually conducted by creatives (creative director or someone else) who themselves are usually dressed casually.
Best piece of advice I ever got regarding interview attire - dress only slightly smarter than you intend to dress to work every day.
A suit? For a creative? No.

well mg33 I'm in London and thats what I would say going to any agency, maybe people over here aren't as stuck up corporate as the places you're used to..
like I said, I would never wear a tie that doesn't mean I would go wearing a 'jesus' t-shirt.
*sigh

and as for "you wouldn't even be let in the door in something that casual" would you want to work somewhere like that???

yeah, i think it's just different in different countries... no big deal. just good info if you ever leave your country.
and yes, i know there are employers here in the US who would hire someone right off the bat wearing their 'i got lucky in kentucky' t-shirt with some camo pants and flip-flops.

always wear armani jacket, but no tie. always a vintage shirt helps too. don't be a slacker and come in with jeans EVER!
