Here at my work we have a G4, about a week ago we had a nice lil power surge here and the surge protector didnt do much I am guessing. the monitor (plugged into the same surge protector) still functions but the Mac won't turn on, it'll blink somewhat when I press the power button, but thats about it. any help? I'm thinking it burnt out the power supply, but I dont know Macs.

hmm look into re
setting the pram

First try zapping the PRAM by following these steps:
Press and hold COMMAND + OPTION + P + R during startup.Continue holding down all four keys until you hear your Mac reboot four times.
Release COMMAND + OPTION + P + R.

Take it to computer service center. It's not a normal issue.

I had the same issue where my mac wouldn't start. The light would turn on then fade out.
I didn't know what it was, might be the pram, but I never did anything with that. I changed out the battery. Once I did that, everything was back to normal and my monitor even worked better. (I was having issues with my monitor turning yellow)
Good luck. Sucks to be you right now with no mac.

You may want to reseat your ram.
Does the screen show anything at all? Also, make sure your PCI cards are all intact, partciularly the graphics card. I've seen cards have problems, and that actually affected the startup (how, I don't know).

everything looks good, nothing looks burnt or anything. I havent a clue really. someone was saying something about a battery, there is that lil 1/2 AA, what is that for?

THere's a little battery on the motherboard so your mac doesnt forget what time it is, etc
just replace that first
then wiggle the ram, etc
if all else fails, bring it to an apple authorized service dealer - preferably an apple store

open it up. make sure all the power is unplugged. there is a little black button near the battery. press it. hold for 3 seconds. i am not responsible for any data loss.....
