if I set the size of an image in ps in cm ... it displays the size in the right figures but when I measure it, it's not that size at all. And also not when I print it ... how come ?

look, also in ps when I set the size for a new document 16 cm x 4,8 cm and then when i measure it ON my monitor it smaller ,.... how come ? how to fix ?

I dont even know how to answer that....you are not, measuring your monitor with analog rulers are you....

I have to think that you are having an issue with screen resolution vs actual resolution. Screens are 72 dpi and, therefore, only 72 dpi images will show up and print at the same size. You can't make a 10" x 10" 300 dpi image in PS and expect it to measure 10" x 10" when you hold a ruler to it.

Your screen does Not display how your print will look, in dimensions or color. Just as the size of an object is relative based on how close you are to it, so as with your monitor.
You can not measure your screen and have it tell you how big something is on paper. If you need to know, proof it.

If Photoshop says its 10cm x 10 cm at 72 dpi, then it will be:
- 10 cm by 10cm on a monitor displaying 72dpi (don't assume your CRT is displaying 72dpi)
- something else on a monitor displaying 96dpi
- something else on a monitor displaying 160dpi
- something else if printed at something other than 72 dpi

etcthis makes no sense, if I am running a monitor @ 72 dpi, at 1600x1200 and its a 17 inch monitor (16.2) do the math....there is way too many factors to believe you can get a decent representation off a images size off a monitor at all.
I dont know why but this is bugging me.....making me NUTS!

brundlefly... If your monitor is at 1600x1200 and is whatever inches big, it's highly unlikely that it is displaying 72dpi.
this is a huge myth that CRT monitors show 72dpi... how on earth could they, if they have changeable resolutions and varying dot pitches?
