yeah...
is that connected to iTunes, as I saw the iTunes icon up there too and was mucho intrigued.
is it a patch or something...?

the buttons are put there by a wicked little pref pane called synergy. pay the $5, you won't regret it

and the itunes logo is there from an altogether little app called quitling, which lists/lets you quit/hide/ any open/closed apps. pretty versatile.

also reccomend checking out proteus over any iChat/MSN/ICQ/Yahoo app, does it all in one and unobtrusively. thats in the top left.

quitling is fairly similar to x-assist, which is what I have. which is basically exactly the same menu arrangement from macos 9.
will definitely check out the other two, but unfortunately proteus probably won't work as I'm stuck behind a firewall. I generally use Fire for covering chatty things, but I'll give that a go...

forgot to mention, the best thing about synergy is if you set it up well you can have global hot keys that work in any app for pause play etc. SO useful.

with proteus you can set up different accounts with proxy settings, port details... but not sure what you need to get beyond your firewall. dont know why, left fire for ichat a long time ago, then went back to proteus recently. been superb.
