i kinda liked it. sean penn kinda reminded me of a young deniro.

I thought it was horrible. The story was half ass, the acting was quarter ass, and there were some humongous inconsistencies in characters and character build up.

granted i'm biased because i love that genre so much, but horrible? that's a little harsh.

I have to agree somewhat, not good, but not horrible. Average at best.

The plot set-up was a miserable trick. Cheap and lame. The performances were really good, but this movie is basically a vehicle for the talent to flex.

...sounds like "Mr. Quivers"

Warning: Do not read this comment if you have not seen the movie. Reall stop now.
At the end, when Kevin Bacon gets the phone call at that moment, the coincidence level is downright cheesy. It made no sense that Kevin Bacon let him go, it didn't fit his character build up what so ever.
Also. The actual killing being an accident then on purpose type thing.. the build up for the brothers intense love for his big brother was this:
"He talks to his brother in sign language even though he doesn't have to"
Not to mention it was awkwardly placed. That is it. So yeah you tricked us good, by having the story be incoherent.

yeah, the inconsitencies were a tad annoying.
and no, i haven't seen mean streets yet.
