Letterman vs. Leno

Saw on DrudgeReport that Letterman is losing strongly in the ratings against Jay Leno.
I personally think Jay Leno is mindless idiocy on the level that Friends is. He rarely says anything that is funny, and when he does, he beats it into the ground over and over and over.
He also does some of the worst interviews with guests that I've ever seen anyone do. He'll take someone like, oh, Natalie Portman and instead of asking her about movie X or her acting career, he'll talk for a full segment about what it was like to take driver's ed and get her license when she says she just turned 16. Doesnt' know how to let any particular subject go.Letterman can make a total fool of himself, but it always seems so uncalculated, like he's not even aware of it and thus there's something genuine and comical about those moments. Leno, on the other hand-every sentance out of his mouth seems so scripted and planned, nothing unique, no living for the moment.
And Letterman has a woman run a circular saw across her metal chest plate night in, night out.
Can you argue with that?

and leno seems to be able to get more big names on the show too, thats probably getting him more ratings than letterman.

there are some leno things i dig, like headlines and when howie mandell does his bits. i feel sorry for kevin the guitar player. he's just there to laugh at all the shitty jokes. its just sad to watch, jay busts out racial jokes and kevin still laughs. they might as well have him up there tap dancing. im surprised he hasnt kicked jay's ass yet

There was a movie about this a few years ago. Pretty funny, It's all relative, Dave L. could give a shit I think, he's worn down.

I can not stand Leon...I think he is a total creep and is not half the man/entertainer Jonny Carson was. Leno's jokes are all defaceing, shallow cheap shots. He lacks character. I have always been a Dave fan but I think he is slippin' some. But I would rather watch Letterman at his worst than Leno for 2 minutes. I dig Conan too. Triumph the dog is kick butt. I have watched jimmy kilbel (sp?) a couple times too. Kinda funny. I also can not stand Craig Kilbourn. That guy reeeeeally sucks.

When the Daily Show got brought up, for a second I was thinking of Craig Kilborn's show that's on opposite Konan.
Glad I figured it out that you meant w/John Stewart, because Kilborn show on regular tv is pothetic.
My roommate will watch it and it just seems like crap to me.Some of you said stuff about Leno I didn't even think about. The racial stuff, yah, forgot how he does that so much. Headlines are great but that's been going on for a long time. Interviewing people on the street is funny (exposing the idiots) but Leno can't hold himself against Letterman in a monologue or most interviews or just the banter of the shows.
Conan is fantastic. I wish they would take Leno off the air and put Conan there.
I don't regularly watch the shows because I try to get to bed around then, but I'd have to get Tivo for sure if Conan was opposite Letterman.

OMG! Are you guys serious? Those guys would have to have some of the lamest humour - and the stupidio audience laughs at ANYTHING they do! - No matter how lame, inane or purile it might be...
Used to watch it reawy late at night (the only time it made it on Aus tv) and felt like shooting myself after each episode of lettermanetc I'd watched

Conan O'brien to be the king fool...he makes me LMAOM...he's like a vulgar jim carrey...he's a kickass actor ...he makes a satir of his own show...he rocks..ha..2 weeks ago, radiohead was on letterman's show, after the heads' performance, thom just walked to the back of the stage refusing to shake letterman's hand.....me and mates fcking LO(fcking)AOOA...well done sir yorke.
