sure they sailed the Cape as well. Dutch East India Company. South Africa was a joint colony so to speak with the Dutch and the English. South Africa has many, many different cultures ranging from Whities to Blackies to Indians and Malay. So you get a nice mixer-upper and that made the sex better. ;)

the colonial powers would bring in people from their other colonies, such as the British bringing in Indians from India to work on Tea Plantations and such. Go to Durban, RSA you will think you are in India, yet no one speaks Hindi more like Afrikaans and English.

I did it through the US Peace Corps. Lot of US Government liberal beauracratic BS. I was there uner Clinton's reign not Bushie. Lot's of fun. Taught PS and Math like I said to kids at a school called Petrus Ganeb in the Khorixas (Bushman) Region of Namibia. In the Middle of the Namib Desert. Have you seen, 'The Gods Must Be Crazy'? I basically taught kids like that. Here's a pic of my school:
and my house as well.

Many other countries have something called VSO. UK, AU and Canada. So I got to meet a ton of people from those places and also bigtime the Scandic countries and the Dutch are bigger helpers too. All in all it made me much better a person. :)

JazX.. I've looked into the PeaceCorps website, maybe not properly, but I could not find any positions overseas, which seems strange to me.. any hints on how to get in communication with someone who could get me going on looking for a place to teach or what not?

what you mean man? The Peace Corps site is tight. Well done by some design group. That's not internal http://www.peacecorps.gov there are both contractual work positions listed there as well as volunteering stuff. I actually, as a RPCV can apply for something called CrisisCorps which is really hard-core shit, like cleaning-up war zones and genocide camps and shit. It's very cool. Ultimately, after I receive my MS Degree from CMU in Public Policy (IT Specialization) I will return to Africa and try my luck in the Non-Profit world. Lot's of fun. :)

Every African port has mixed people, from the massive amounts of impregnation of native African women by Caucasian men. In fact I taught a lot of half bantu / half Russian and Greek kids. Seriously! Very typical, especially in Southern Africa and on that a lot of black women find white men attractive. It's just here in the USA that you don't see it much but then again sometimes you do. Lot of beautiful mixed girls in Western Cape and in Angola (Mulato). In Namibia they are called UNTAG babies, named after the UN people that came in and set-up the Independent Namibia in 1990. They are all about 10 to 13 years old and directly the decendants of African mothers and European fathers. There's probably a good 50,000. Mostly from Sweden, Germany and UK. Problem is their dads are nowhere to be found. True story.
