yes, yes...
the "edition i got" was shot off the movie screen and the guy got like the worst seat in the house and the whole movie is squized analog (!) onto 4:3 sceen (it starts ok on the left only to be distored in perspective on the right).

I thought Kill Bill was an excellent movie. Skip the DivX, pay the (overpriced) ticket fee and see it on the big screen; bootlegs are always a disappointment. Besides, they wouldn't do the movie justice.

actually i wrote a feature lenght script about 2 brothers making bootlegs (VHSs and DVDs) so i have to say that i did my research. And although i agree that often bootlegs are disapointment they provide barebone story and are actually quite a good judge of the actuall value of the movie (kind of like watching your favorite scenes from a movie with the sound turned off just to see that the scene is still exciting).

don't buy that shit, never ever buy a bootleg copy. take your ass to a warez source and flush it to your drive
buy the dvd or buy the ticket, buy the real deal if you're dropin' paper for it, you fuckers

pr2- that is a pretty black and white view of what makes a film good.
Ofcourse NO.1 is a good story told well.
Though film is also about the audio and visual experience- NOT just storytelling. I love all these facets - and would hate to loose out on one or the other.

(had to pause a movie i was watching a bootleg too but of high quality)
Absolutely. The story isn't the only one thing making a movie good. There is at least a dozen things that influence overall impression (and for that matter doing such stupid thing like turning off the sound is good only as a learning tool).
KILL BILL was almost great. The scene at the hospital where rather than just seeing the story moving forvard we see the chsracter stuggling on physical and psychological level (something that's very new to blockuster cinema). But i don't think Quentin chose too go all the way of the greatness road. Why? I don't know. Still i'll never see that movie again. Yet good luck to the director.
