Looking for a filter that creates distress... either on the entire image or those that aplly styles to the edges...
Anyone ?

my advice: DONT USE FILTERS.
or if you do, youd better tweak the hell out of it so that i dont recognize it as a filter. or else i will hunt your family down and cannabalize them.
wanna make a quick distressed look? beat the hell out of a surface, scan or shoot it, drop it on a layer on top of everything and play with the layer options (multiply etc)
and if i catch you looking for filters again, i will skin you and eat your internal organs.
=D

ive scanned burnt paper, paper in the mud, film, all kinds of stuff... and scanned it it,
added it as a sperate layer/

:))
i know its more work, but, you end up with WAY cool results...

Whatever.
So you're telling me that you never use filters?
You do all your gaussian blurs with the blur tool?
Filters are a tool, just like any other tool in Photoshop. As long as they're used correctly, sparingly and with atristry in mind they'll enhance the work.

print out a peice of paper filled with black. photocopy it on a b/w copier. crumple that piece up and even rub it together to kinda rub the ink off and give it a destressed look. then scan the paper. then use the layer options like bio said.
