Hey,
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had these little problems. Sometimes when trying to open small programs like Address Book, iCal, or iChat the icon appears in the dock, but nothing happens...no load, nothing shows. I have to restart my computer before they work.
And just now i tried IMing someone on iChat and i got an 'Internal Error' message.
I love how much faster the OS is but Apple needs to get on fixing these things if i'm not the only one experiencing them. And the Font Book app is excellent, but reaaaal damn slow and seems buggy. Bring on the updates please Apple.-JT

I got a few problems... all on the computer I didn't do a clean install on however...
but apple's been working on 10.3.1 before 10.3 was gold mastered.

same problems. just seems kind of buggy at first with, like you said, the smaller apps. they'll fix that shit though.

did you try repairing disk permissions...?

Backup, format and install.
Trust me.
and FontBook is shit.
It makes it real easy to delete your fonts accidently and it fucks up Univers Normal and Bold pretty good so they don't work in any apps.

mitsu, you are around here enough to know better...pvan is not in need of another pc/mac explosion....

I actually like Font Book. I hate suitcase so much i'm glad there is a built in alternative.

as far as organizing fonts is concerned Font Reserve (Server or Single User) is the bomb.
backing up and doing a clean install is definitely a good suggestion.
i haven't had any problems yet except that limewire doesn't work anymore...not that i actually use it to download music illegally.

i have just got myself out of this.... it is font book that is the problem... i tried to click on the "resolve duplicates" and it removed fonts somehow... and that makes apps like safari and others act strange.... in my case not satart at all... i can see them in the dock but nothing else happen....
font book is a... "#€%% app... give me suitcase or something ::...(

I've been on it for a few days, problems so far...
I turned off a few essential fonts in Font Book which caused some apps not to work correctly, turning them back on one by one solved the problem. Why don't they install the system fonts somewhere where you can't turn them off and that doesn't show them in the application font menus?
FontBook's resolve duplicates turned off the fonts in the OSX folders and left on the ones on my OS9 drive. Ended up going through manually to turn the right ones on and off.
FontBook is generally shit IMHO.
Illustrator CS takes 4-5 mins to open and create a new document. Not sure if this is an issue with Illustrator or Panther, or both.
Page setup, Print and Save As PDF all take ages (several minutes) to do anything.
DiskCatalog doesn't work.

So nothing too majorly wrong apart from Illustrator. Overall it's excellent, just a few glitches they need to sort out. If you're on 10.2.8 and it's working ok don't bother updating yet, hopefully there'll be an update soon.

I've had printing problems. I have not really had the chance to sit down and try to fix yet.

Ive had all these problems but then I did the folowing and my problems are gone now. But I never installed Illus CS.
1. Verified & Repair permisions
2. Delete cache for sys and user and restarted
3. Turned off FileVault! Restarted
4. fsdk thingy
5. Turned off Fontbook and pretended it never existed.
6. Ran Software update.Cant stress how much steps 1 & 2 need to be done when messing with OSX.

font book does seem to be a bit buggy. i guess i'll use suitcase till they fix it.
other than that, i've had no problems. i love expose. my brother is trying to program something similar that would work in a windows environment.

we had issues with fontbook too, and our previous font reserve didn't work (have read mixed results with that in panther), so we ended up buying suitcase. not fabulous, but at least most everything is working again.
