Does anyone here live in Detroit?

I do. But devil's night hasn't really been bad since the mid nineties. That's when you could see a dozen houses or so lit up at the same time.

I've always been intrigued by it.
I used to live in Chicago and I'd hear all these fcked up stories.
Just wondering.

I think Detroit has learned it's lesson. The fires were just symptomatic of a greater injustice going on here. Frustrated people lash out. Things could be bad tonight if for only one reason, Detroit has a gigantic backlog of uncollected taxes from homeowners, a month ago they were notified. Something like 240,000 houses were delinquent.

Being from Detroit , I don't know which is worse: your hometown being known for spawning Eminem and Kid Rock, or for Burning houses on Devil's night.

I grew up in a suburb of Detroit, literally 3 houses from the street dividing the cities. Several miles down that road the neighborhood got pretty damn scary. On Devils night we always used to hear people shooting off guns all night, even heard machine guns before. Scary shit. Dumb asses don't realize all those bullets have to come down somewhere, bastards!

We used to call it Mischief Night when I was a kid...but that's because we were in West Michigan and not as cool as Detroit. All we did was egg and toiletpaper places...which is kinda ironic, because 1/4 of the residents of my town were delinquent on their egg and toilet paper payments.
