If you take a line from a movie and mix it in your sound, are you breaking the copyright law?

the director, the production house, the actor?

it's generally owned by the studio that releases it. universal, mgm, etc. if you get into these things deep enough to buy reproduction rights, i'd say go to a lawyer rather than here :)
