iDissappointment.
I'm gonna try rockin a cassette adapter tonight for the hell of it to compare.
The sound really is decent if you're hurtin to hear something, but its pretty muddy in comparison.. here's my opinion of where it falls:direct digital
cd
tape cassette
FM Radio
---itrip---
AM Radio

monster cable plugged into the headphone jack does it for my auto. then again, i've got the rca adapter thingy for my alpine HU too. sounds great, no AM.

ya.. the iTrip is an iPieceofshit.
One of the worst adapters ive seen.

id love to use the cd changer input.. but my matrix has a weird input that they dont make an adapter for (yet)....
trying to last the winter without gutting the stock HU (i kinda like being able to rock tapes and keep the theft factor low)
oh welllll

how does toyota get a cd changer addon into the HU then? maybe you could get one from them and do a little macgyver magic to it to get it to work. it would still be better than the alternative and you'd only have to take the HU out once.
just a thought. :)

there's a special signal the HU looks for that isn't provided by the ipod.... its annoying..
BUT
this thing helps a LOT in finding a good frequency to use
http://www.versiontracker.com/dy…aim for somewhere between 97 - 101... im using 97.5 for my itrip now and the sound is 10x better than it was at 87.9
weird.

the iTrip is FM. did you expect more?
tape will be better than the iTrip.
direct is the way to go if you can do it.
i still dig my iTrip. it also depends on where you are and what stations are available in your area.

a week later, it really doesn't sound half bad at all at the new frequency..
being able to use it with any radio on anywhere i go definitely is cool too.
