can anyone here say that they have been able to use their iBook for a dual monitor and not just monitor mirroring?

videocard doesn't support that.
so far as I know.

rasko, you are right the video card is not supposed to support it; however, I have an iBook I bought last year around Christmas that has dual monitor supported. It's a 14inch iBook.
I never hacked the iBook, but I know that can be done. I have not meet anyone that can explain why I have a dual monitor supported iBook. But I plan on finiding out.

what i'm wanting to know is if you can you hook up the g3 ibook to the cinema display?
anyone done this?

I did it and it worked just fine, I could get 1280 x1024 on an external monitor, but it started to lag at 1600 x 1200 witrh only 16 megs video ram, here is the article...

I take no responsibility, but I know it worked on two different 600 mgz ibooks with no problems

the Mobility Radeon 9200 does support dual monitor but apple, for some reason doesn't want it to work with the iBook.

thanks brundlefly. thats pretty much what i wanted to hear. I wanna get the new 933g4 one. Sounds sweet

all the video cards that are in the ibooks support dual monitors, apple just turns them off at the software level, to make the powerbooks more expensive. I was also able to over clock the 600 meg ibook to 766 through software as well.
this should also work with the imacs for dual monitor support.

mitsu, you should be able to hook it up to the cinema display with the patch and the DVI converter kit....
I bought a powerbook, things are much easier

"mitsu, you should be able to hook it up to the cinema display with the patch and the DVI converter kit...."
yeah, but aren't those just for powerbooks?
- unknown0
how ya do dat oh brundle?
- brundlefly0
the convertor kit fits most analog inputs....so you need your ibook adapter then the DVI adapter, then the monitor....
I havent done this, but II see no reason it shouldnt work, the patch I posted earlier worked for me, but I can't say I would recvommend it, as I have read some horror show results from other people messing it up.
