Hi ... I'm thinking of starting a book project at my school to chronicle the work of my Design Art program. It's a la Yearbook but without the inherent crappiness. I want it to be slick and professional.
Am I naive to think I can pull something like this off by the end of the year? I dont' have any experience per se making books, but I have lots of crazy ideas. My collegues tell me I'm in way above my head, but I think it can be done (maybe not this year but next for sure).
What kind of process is involved? I want this to be something like the professional books available (e.g. the one from DiK ... can't remember name). I want it to be simple, but slick, with solid images. Any advice from people with experience out there? Am I drunk on naivity, or just drunk?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Chug, I am part of a team at my arch school that is currently working on a book of the same M.O. I feel like we are drowning sometimes, but I think we are going to make it. Our deadline is December, and there is no way we are going to make it (mostly because it is 2 students and 1 faculty working 10-20 hours a week on it.).
On projects such as this, I think the most important thing is to gain the support of the students and faculty, esp. administration. Without that, it the angle of ascent just made you shift down to 1st gear!
Good luck! It would be cool to share experiences with you and others who have prior experience.

Thanks, sounds like we're in the same thing. Definately I'd wanna haer all about how yours turns out... I agree, having lots of solid support is key. I know from my high school the yearbook "committee" went all to crap after a few months, so I've gotta con people into staying.
Good luck!
