he got canned for that?
oy gevalt.

Nah, it's because he worked for ESPN.

rush limbaugh talks shit about blacks => ESPN stands by him until the media pressure causes him to resign.
Easterbrook talks shit about jews => ESPN sacks him instantly.
hmm.

it probably had more to do with him dissing michael eisner. you can search for his articles on the ESPN website, they all lead to 404s.

got sacked for that review?
good.
pretty lousy review...pretty outrageous claims..
pretty bald faced anti-semetism..wonder if he was just in a pissy ass mood, wrote something off the cuff, something a bit edgy and insulting, just to see if he could get away with it...
nope..
turns out ya can't.
heheh..anyway ya slice it, that was one hell of a career limiting move.
;)

I agree. It was less like a review and more like some weird personal attack on Q.T.
I always find that people so hating of someone else just end up to be jealous and envious but unable to deal with it in a healthy way.

except you people don't know gregg easterbrook. this is the same guy who is an editor at the vehemently pro-israeli New Republic. and unlike rush, has a long reputation for thoughtfulness.
yeah, that review was incoherent and antisemetic. but still, this is an abberation.
espn are a bunch of pussies.

pro israeli..?
and i noticed that he couldn't help mentioning his bizzare notion that exported hollywood films to islamic countries are to blame for terrorism...
and a long reputation for thoughtfulness you say?
wow...
sounds like his good sense and fine decency decided to go on a short holiday to the pocanos, and while they were out, he lost his fucking mind
;)anyhow, i enjoy public displays of weirdness like this, and rush limbaugh..
everyonce in a while you wonder about moronic concepts, like racism, or whatever, pro or anti isreali this or that, or anti islamic...
and you think to yourself, man..i wonder what idiots actually buy into these opinions..and sure enough, one of them usually will promptly stick a hand up, waive and shout..."ME!, over here guys!"
anyhow, it makes me grin,

no, it's not ESPN, disney owns ESPN :D

I just think it's very unfortunate he would get sacked over something like this. Don't talk shit about your boss I guess. He wrote a football column on PAGE2 every tuesday... but yeah the review stinks.

you're making too much out of a unedited rant. the guy obviously did not express himself well, and at least he explains his ideas in another blog entry and apologies for saying things the wrong way. He never said movies created terrorists, he said there was a correlation. and even that was an aside which he just threw out.
but i still pity the guy. anyone who spent time writing a quality essay knows how hard it is to match what you write to your own thoughts exactly...and how easy it is to totally fuck up and say something you don't mean.
yeah, I do have some sympathy for trent lott as well. not for rush tho, that was premeditated.
