is it possible to grab multiple keyframes/objects and place their x and/or y position at the same time? i've been having to move each one at a time . . and i can't use an embedded movie clip because my goal is to export to quicktime . . thanks in advance.

Yep, there's an edit multiple Keyframes option which allows you to grab multiple objects through multiple frames...its the little two-rectangular icon on the botton of the timeline. Read about it in the help section. You can use programs like SWF2AVI to convert movie-clips. Hope that helps.
