ISBN: 3-88375-731-4Owen Buck - thosethatknow (Whitechapel Project Space 3 April - 27 April)
Peculiar road behind Whitechapel High Street selling tickets for the Miss Bulgaria Beauty Pageant, and containing a charming space run by Maria Trimi-Kliniotis. We had a little trouble with the buzzer but I managed to put it right. Owen Buck, who works under the psyeudonym of 'thosethatknow', has made CMYK computer generated prints mounted on foam board. He uses 'illustrator' and has done some quirky spacio-architectural, logo-reminiscent oddities with highly designed colour. Never slips into a natural light except where it glances off the odd corner, and reflected from a tiny hole drilled somewhere vast and just above my head. One flattens out into a pantone of browns, edging cone-like at varying speeds towards the right, and in that respect the most successful in my eyes. It's funny how you can just sense that this isn't a project attached to the Whitechapel as you approach it. DM...'
