dear macromedia,
'til version 8, your application was my #1 choice for printdesign. since 2 weeks i am fighting with your newest version and it became so unusable, i wil change to another product. sorry for this, but i hope you'll be on the track again or delete the 'print' option in newer versions.
(i had to sayx that)

I too have freehand MX bought with studio and I'm still forced to use 9 becuse it runs unworkably slow - even zooming out takes like 10 seconds or MORE!
os9.2 fookin shite

ooh, trouble in paradise, eh? Runs like a charm on my pee-cee :P

It's still better than that Illy 10 shit that Adobe makes.

awww i dunno! i am swearing 2 hours now, can't select and scale items (need 5-10 trys), zooming is shite and countless other strange things. :P

I've used freehand for a few years now, and can't stand illustrator, but i admit too the latest version blows. The "mx" interface is really nice....but the panning + zooming problems people have mentioned already really suck. Does make it almost unusable as it can be so frustrating. I think it's only in the PC version, not OS X, and appears unrelated to how complex the art is. they also took out features (Flash preview?)

Macromedia released an update a couple weeks ago, may be worth checking it out.

I like Freehand MX, although some drawbacks that I have noticed since the previous version are, color selecting and there is no more flash anti-aliased mode. I loved that thing for web design. But i still use MX, its interface is a lot easier once you are used to it.

yeah it's bit buggy but still works better than illustraitor
- paulrand0
no antialiasing! that's totally fucked.

hmm.. i can't say that it works on my pc..
it keeps giving something like screenshots when scrolling up or down..
people keep telling me that InDesign is an alternative..
yaknow..?

Hi.
I actually prefer Freehand MX to Illustrator.
(here come the flames)
I do a lot of Flash work and it seems to work better for what I need it for.
1. Better color preservation
2. Better path preservation.
3. Import an FH11 file to flash MX will keep everything nice and lined up.
4. Also, on the PC, 'Right click to Zoom' is an unbeatable workflow help!also- the flash antialiasing has been incorporated into the default view mode.
my $.02
