This guy made a movie titled I Stand Alone.
Most disturbing movie I've seen since Man Bites Dog.
I heard people came out of the theatre puking at the Cannes film festival during his new movie Irriversible.
Gasper Noe is a wicked mofoker.

i stand alone is a walk in the park compared to irreversible, I couldn't make it through the real-time rape scene, though I did manage to get to see Gaspar getting fisted in the first fifteen minutes.
saw him speak at the tokion conference, was going to interview him for a zine, he gave me his room number and everything but I got too busy.
he plays a frequency in irreversible, I jotted down the hrz signal but it causes extreme discomfort in the viewers.
he's a bit of a miscreant but interesting none the less, i stand alone is amazing its all a big loop.

alright please don't tell me anymore about irreversible cause I haven't seen it.
The one thing about I stand Alone is that is the most powerful film I've ever seen in may aspects.
For instance the gunshot sound at some of the cuts scared the crap out of me.
The speed, tone of voice and pace of the narrative. That film felt like a punch in the face.
I didn't know there was a rape scene in Irriversible. Please do not tell me anymore about it. I hope I can make it through the 1st 15 minutes.

are you kidding? when people mention irreversible, you're supposed to automatically think rape scene. (:

If you like i stand alone ("seul contre tous " in french)
you need to see the prequel "Carne"!
And for me i stand alone is better than irreversible!

i never know what to think about those "controversial" movies..
in a way , i think "Oh yeah, cool, theres someone daring to do something different" bur when i see it , it makes me sick. i don't believe in directors that make *only * shocking films..
to shock as a stylistic device is fine , but as a general attitude i don't believe in it. no.
saw this one and i felt sick for days afterwards:
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt02546…- really? Piano teacher made you sick for days? hell, it didnt even touch the sides when i watched itautoflavour

I still say a lot of recent horror flicks have been far worse than any of Noe's films, which at least had an artistic side to them.
Anyone see the Alexandre Aja remake of "The Hills Have Eyes?" I could barely watch certain scenes, whereas I had no trouble sitting through "Irreversible." Or the Japanese film "Audition" as another example.
I don't see Noe as the worst of the worst when it comes to this stuff, and in fact I enjoy his films even though I generally dislike gratuitous gore.

noe's films are brilliant, real raw in your face violence, you're really happy it's over, but at the same time you can't help it but admire how well-crafted the scenes are. but why reviving SUCH AN OLD THREAD?!
