Ey guys, ok so when I specify a compression setting for an image within the library, upon exporting does that "JPEG Quality" field in the export dialog box overide what I've specified in the library? I'm having some issues with some jpgs.. it seems that regardless what I tell it in the library I have to bump it up to 90+ in the export dialog box to see any changes in image quality/etc.. ideally I'd like to specify custom compression for every single jpg in my movie.. I can do this right? If so what do I punch in upon exporting?

    Thanks a ton!

not really possible - presuming that your working in flash mx.

The publish settings are for the entire movie... so setting it to 90% will mean that all images will be displayed at this compression. A possible way around this is to export all your images at various compression rates (80, 75 etc) and set your main movie to 100%. However I've never tried this.

You can't do this via actionscript either - althought that'd be a nice wish.

    Punching Macromedia may help. :)

(again, assuming you're talking about flash)

you can set each image you import into flash it's own compression settings.

if you go into the library and find the image you want to change (it should have a little tree icon)

right click on the library item and select properties, in there you ca set up compression settings for that individual image.

yes I'm talking about flash.. I have it figured out. If you tell a bitmaped based image in the library to use it's imported "as is" quality it will change with the exports box BUT if you specify a different setting in the library the final exports jpeg setting wont touch it. So basically you were right, if I set the final export jpeg compression to 100 it will only effect the images that I didn't tweak in the library which is exactly what I wanted.

    Thanks!
