If you want to live & work in the US as a Graphic Designer you'll need:
- offer letter from a US company stating your position, salary and start date
- university degree OR post-secondary diploma and 3 years work experience
If you meet the requirements and have an offer letter you can go to any US point-of-entry and apply for a TN - Graphic Designer visa.
For more info, check out the following site. It's the best for visa info: http://www.grasmick.com/

thanks for the helpful info!
unfortunately, I wont be finished my degree by then. I wonder if theres like some sort of student thing I can be eligible for.
I think I'll go to the American consolate sometime next week

you can't work on a student visa, i know that from experience. at least not legally. heh.
but, being canadian, i'm sure there's an exemption you can employ.

Move to India.
That's how you get jobs with US Co.'s
- canadian0
Supposedly the US economy is gaining strength in a very big way. Perfect time to move there.
- Gorbie0

Sponsorship or some kind of exchange program, there are tons of them, especially for Canadian Citizens.

Work in the U.S.A?
There is no such thing.

Good luck, I heard there are only about 1/3 of the visas available now, than 2 years ago. They're going to be a mass exodus as well, since a lot fo the current visas won't be getting renewed.
- canadian0
true. they are locking the doors for entry.
- unknown0
why do you need a degree to get a visa as a graphic designer? now that's stupid
- preston0
Thanks Jazx, good to know.
im getting pumped about the whole idea...

The harsh reality is that it's become very difficult within the past 2 years to obtain legal working status for foreigners in the US.
TN visas are now handed out to less than 1/2 of the people that apply whether they meet the requirements or not. Exchange programs are pretty much all gone except for school related ones. And, the available H1B visas have been cut to 65K from 195K just last week.
Your best option is to finish your degree and try to enter the US on a TN visa. By the time you finish the economy will be up and people will be hiring again.
I'm speaking from experience. I entered the US 3 years ago on a TN visa. Fast forward a few years and I'm now working back in Canada while my K1 - Fiancee visa is being processed. As soon as that's done I'm headed back to the US.
