I have looked around Macromedia for this new problem.
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet…My question is this: Will we have to make java workarounds for EVERY swf file that is called onto the stage? For some sites that could be rewriting 40, 50, or 100 swf files! Is this a correct assumption? I hope not.

no, because those files aren't embeded into the markup. the problem is with the "embed", "object" and "applet" tags called directly from within the markup.
http://www.zeldman.com among many others have remarked on this.

Thanx sparker ... I dont feel as screwed now. Slightly, but not completely.

Yea, it's more of an annoying bug than an "internet crashing ordeal..."
Although, it still will have major ramifications on the way we work and play.
Like Zeldman mentions, Eolas could say that the new "workarounds" also violate the patent, etc etc, bla bla.
We have moved from the world of "information age" the world of the "litigation age".
:)
It's just as annoying and ignorant as the whole SCO bullshit.

it might be that way man which will completely suck, but be rest assured some brainiac is currently writing software that will help with this. ;)

What I don't understand is, why did they win??
But more so, how could they win now? I mean, have they just been waiting until EVERY page has external files automatically called??

waht we need is an action that you can feed your original HTML file into... adn it'll do the necessary changes... sweet!
