What are the the proportions for a CD cover? It's not perfectly square is it?
Thanks.

I think these can help you out. It doesn't say anything about the size on the site but just download one and check.

I just designed one, and dimensionally it was at 4.75" x 4.75" and 300 dpi.
the extra .25 inches i included for bleed, so it's best not to include any majorly important design bits on the outside edges.
best of luck

Not trying to get on your case or anything...but...
I so love how wrapped up in the digital age we are that some people would never think to grab a ruler and measure a cd cover and enter the appropriate numbers into Photoshop.
I find that very, very amusing.

a ruler wouldnt account for bleed though.

yes but if you knew the bleed specs a printer would need you could accomodate for that.
- mrdobolina0
you would probably get the dimensions from them also.

no it wouldnt account for bleed but almost all print shops have 1/8" bleeds.....and for good measure you should have another 1/8" in from there for text or 1/4" from the absolute edge.....
go to www.copycraft.com and they have a ton of templates.....
you should also check with the printer you are using they may have certain specs and also they may have templates to use

Definatly no problem with getting templates on line-quite handy and quick.
I just don't like when I feel like the world relies so much on computers to do things like this.
I bet there are kids, and teenagers who have never used a ruler.

Reliance on technology makes me sad sometimes.
And I just read this article in a paper about keeping kids safe these days, contrasting against the days of being a kid in the early 80s-riding bikes w/no helmet, lawn darts, realistic toy guns, etc.
And things like kids today not knowing geography, not knowing presidents, not knowing all the stuff I remember having to learn. I'm almost 26 and I have this feeling that school today for junior high kids and elementary kids is so disturbingly lacking and different from what it was for people my age.
Also, watching Bowling For Columbine last night has my mind working overdrive.

I bet a 36 year old guy felt the same way about you... MG
Dont let that get to you...

haha, true about that.
I'd love to hang out for a week in a junior high.
I seriously wonder if they do long division, multiplication, fractions, etc. on paper these days, or if it's all calculator.

probably depends on your teacher. if he is a dickhead, your doing it on paper.. haha
