I disagree that it's easy. Easier maybe but knowledge of fundamental principals are still required.

i think there are so many influences we all have (movies, music, television, games...) so they became the source of our work, digital is the way we can put them all together.
there was never a thing like 'traditional art'. i wonder what the ppl became to hear in the Dada-movement...

Pirate Art?
AHHHAAARRRRR!

word rasko...
i think that is a big part of the problem...people typically associate computers with tasks like writing word documents, checking email, and downloading music...so any sort of work viewed in that medium is competing with those thoughts...whereas traditional art is viewed in a gallery where people got dressed up and drink wine and eat cheese to prepare to view "art"...very hard to toggle those mindsets being different sides of the brain and all...

look, it certainly gives the opportunity for anyone to explore their artistic side...whether they develop with that or produce something somewhat meaningful is not up to them, but to call something that is purely institutionalized or templated is one thing, but to say something is synergistic or innovative is another and each person either considers both to be "art" or one to be "art". in either case, these are creative functions which should always serve an "organic" purpose.

'digital art' hah ; )
some years ago i saw, no joke, a guy who had paint squirted in his ass to sh*t it all over his canvas. that was radical...

until the day when there are digital galleries (there may be) - an actual space where you can go to and everybody hmms and haaas around flat screens (as frames) with the digital art on these screens and people talk about the pieces like they would a painted piece or a sculpture and their relevance to society etc. the digitial artist will be percieved as a button pusher.
- instantok0
well we do that (flatscreens and talking arty bullshit about work) at my school and...there was also a big ass whitney exhibit with josh davis etc....so yes it exists...problem is most people dont know about it

yes, more flat screen galleries needed.....

That is a load of crap...
How is some guy in a garage's paint daubs on canvas depicting his "tormented" life more legitimate than digital design with mass appeal?
Is it because the computer draws the line for you?
Sounds like Fine Arts elitism at it's best.

My art is more pure than yours because I mix my own pigments from goat urine and mollusk shells.
... Monkey Balls!
