what's new in design?

hey guys! I hope I can get some help from some of you. I need to make a presentation for my designclass about what's new in design lately. Not only webdesign....There were a few presentations already, about pixelart and stuff...but I can't come up with anything. Any suggestions?

phew;thats a difficult question.we live in a postmodern age man...
there is no new anymore.its become a soup of styles and techniques where everybody can to anything(music,film;webdesign print...)
maybe in magazine design there are some revolutions...take jop van bennekom(RE-magazine and BUTT) he approches a mass media thing like magazine design very personal.
as for the pixel shit...its all hype and remember what chuck d said...dont believe the hype..thats not design.its nostalgia...its very beautifull sometimes(e-boy,golden shower)
but groundbreaking it is not.if you seek for something groundbreaking in webdesign,well thaan hi-res is your thing.it is not alwys as beautifull but the sites are amazing and interactive.
but much of the 'new design' are based on rules that where conceived in first part of the century(jan tsjichold,saul bass...) so it isnt exactly new....

minimalism is out across the board.
Romanticism is in pretty much all over.
and everyone hates computers.

k zou eigenlijk gewoon iets doen waar je zelf van houd.
zo deed ik in mijn tijd(aahh de dagen dat david carson nog in was)
ik vond 'new design' altijd zo'n tricky onderwerp

If your topic is 'Whats new in design' then what about product design, architecture etc? or are you using a very narrow definition of design here?
