i have another question... sorry :(
in distiller my printers settings for the default page size won't fit the page size i need.
do i change this to what i require + 0.25" for bleed?

Settings > Edit ... - in the 'Advanced' tab check 'Allow postscript file to override PDF settings' - this should do the trick

cool! should i put bleed on top of the set size?
(should i put 0.25mm on for bleed)

Just check the preview in Quark and make sure there's enough room for bleed + crop marks
