Non-design jobs

I am a recent college grad currently in NYC and although I feel I have a pretty decent portfolio, I still think it can be built up (especially in the areas of my main interests--3D, compositing, etc).
In anycase, I'm sure I can find a low-paying web development/advertising job, but rather than do something I am not interested in, I want to get a job that is less stressful--meaning that I won't have to work overtime on something I wouldn't want to put in my portfolio anyway.
Can anyone recommend a good non-design job in NYC that pays fairly well and would provide me with benifits? I'm talking a job with MTA or something.
Thanks.

hmmmm, you're SURE you can get a web development job or advertising? Well good luck, because it's not that easy.
There's a guy on here who works down Camden market because he says it keeps his designing fresh. I reckon that because you have to go to work EVERY day, you have to like whatever it is you do.
