and yes, if you are on os X, if you download a file with a dot (.) in the beginning, its invisible! display it in your ftp as text and copy/paste

on a Mac:
name the file whatever.htaccess as it won't accept files that start with a dot.
then upload and remove the 'whatever' bit on the server..
werked fer me, os-x, fetch.

4c, now i have the document .htaccess in the root of my website, i know it is there, but i can't see it, and when i go to http://www.kulsdom.com/it_doesnt… it is showing the standard one.
