My old PowerMac 7600, buffed up with a G3 400mhz card, is sick. I get the question mark on start up and last night ran disk first aid booted up from a disc and got a message that my harddrive couldn't be mounted and then on another occasion was asked if I wanted to initialize the disk.
So, am I screwed? Any suggestions?

You could try with Norton Disc Doctor, Disk Warrior etc...
and the Apple Hardware Test CD...

Search for my DiskWarrior thread if you havent seen it. It worked great for me.

thanks, guys. Used DiskWarrior and think it did the trick.
Long live DiskWarrior!

Cool, did you read what I wrote about it in that thread. It made an exact copy of my file directories, replaced the old one, fixed all errors and gave a full report in less than 2 minutes. I think it was worth it from that one use.
