What do you think of the scrolling thumbnails technique used when you rollover one of the section images?
Personally I'm not that keen on it but I'm designing a site for a photographer that wants me to use the exact same effect on his site :(
Gimme a few good reasons for and against.
Thanks,

I quite like it with the smaller areas you can approach.. but don't like the graphic styling... nor the speed of the scrolling... just pause on each one slightly... tricky but better

cons:
you cannot get (at once)a full view of what there is to look at, and going back to the menu takes two annoying steps (back > and subnav).. bleeergh.. me no likey.
to much flashy blingbling vs. little usability..

I agree... if you're going to do that kind of thing you have to be able to go all the way with it... and not kop out with a backup plan of a ugly floaty drop down...

dstlb will only copy it any way (JOKING dstlb : ) )

Oi! Specifically don't want to copy it but I'm being pushed that way by the client. That's why I'm after a few more reasons to throw his way to change his mind.

You seem to have a lot of clients like that... but come to think of it so do we!
Why not create a really quick and dirty prototype with their logo on it that swings it for them

BTW - Here's what I initially presented a couple of days ago... http://www.zen12165.zen.co.uk/fi…
just a quick click through of screens at the moment.

The reason your client is so taken with that other thing is simply coz its moving... still can prove very dry, and not say a lot...
I reckon you should just get your hands dirty

True, they don't tend to understand unless you actually build something they can see working. Time to get busy.
