I graduated undergrad from RISD. Most Art Schools have very critical opinions of their competing schools, so my views may be somewhat biased. RISD was very concept based...which is great for foundation because it teaches you how to look and create and be fascinated with everything, but most of all to be original. From what I understand SVA is very production based. Their grads have an upper hand in getting employed out of school because they have better internship opportunities and better production. However, someone who's got greater concept forming skills and drive often lasts longer in the field because they're always able to be new and think fresh. They often take position of design director.
It depends more on what you want. SVA is a great School, but is it what you're looking for?
