im looking to get rid of my g4 desktop and getting the new 15" 1ghz model. i was wondering if anyone does all their designing/work on the powerbook. can it be solely used for that? im planning to use my powerbook for all my needs. graphic design. 3d design, motion design audio design. as well as internet browsing =)

sorry to ruin the best damn joke all day, but, yes you can attach a mouse to your powerbook. as well as an external monitor. and external drives. and scanners. and cat5. and anything else that will work with USB, Bluetooth, Firewire, or any of the other standards that any notebook computer has.
hell, i've been designing on a lapytop since last november. connect an external monitor, a mouse, scanner, etc.. and you're set.
today i realized just how dramatically different my lacie 19" is in color compared to my 14" laptop lcd... ick ick ick lcd.

i'm still doing all my design work on a g3 powerbook. what.

There's nothing a Powerbook can't do that your desktop can. I've been PB only for years, though the G5 is a tempting teather - more out of want than need. Unless you're doing really heavy 3D, there's no need for a desktop.
(The N00B adapter comes bundled with Bluetooth on the new models.)

the only reason why i would even get a desktop is if i wanted to have dual 19's instead of my 19 and my 14" lcd on my lappy.
but the benefits for being able to bring my work to show a client faaar outweighs not having a laptop.
