I have a sound loop that sounds great when looping in quicktime but doesn't match up when it is in flash mx.
its almost like flash is cutting a split second out of the track. it also does this in itunes..
but it sounds fine when i loop it in the editor i used and in quicktime..
any help would be appreciated =)

are you using an mp3? if so, use a wav and it should fix it. I've had that problem before.

Jaz can help you better, but the way I avoid that small glitch is importing sounds as wav (instead of mp3, etc).

but can i export the sound in flash using mp3 compression?
- unfittoprint0
yup.

yes, exporting is fine, but importing mp3's is asking for trouble.

you never ever want to use MP# format for looping. mrdobolina said it best, use .wav 16-bit 44.1KHz for best soundsing quality and infinite loopability.

ok you could use even better quality .wav files but they are going to be MASSIVE. Flash MX likes .wav. Either export in .wav format or your going to have to find a sound editor such as Sound Forge to slice and dice till you get it right. :)

wicked thanks guys!

ohh PS, Flash compresses .wav better anyway. Your welcome.

when i export the .swf file is there a certain way i should export the audio??
jazx, are you saying export out of flash with mp3 or wav?
- ********0
no, you misunderstand me, you can do that though. What you want to do it take your original audio, is it in .mp3 or .wav format right now. If you can export out into .wav format it is better. OK man it depends on the actual structure of the audio file. Explain more to me and I can help you perfectly :)

wups, also
i need the loop to end and immediately start playing the ending audio file
the main loop goes over several scenes
if i use stopAllsounds it will create a space in between the tracks
is there a better way to do this

ok man, I am unsure what you mean exactly. If you wan to loop an audio file, it should already loop, externally, outside of Flash in the first place. If it doesn't I mean the chances of you getting it to loop, I mean it wouldn't. hee, hee. ok so does the audio file loop outside of Flash first off.? :)

and if so what format do you have it in and do you have the ability to loop it with some audio looper?
- subfactor0
yes it loops fine as aif but when looping as a mp3 in flash it doesn't..
i think i will try looping it as a wav and hope for the best

JazX, you can create an audio file and have it set to loop automatically in flash without using flash/actionscipt?..with some audio looper...?

ok so do this, send me the .aiff to this account and then I will convert it into .wav, but you should be able to import the .aif or aiff into Flash and then use it and loop it. so basically man, JUST use .wav. he ehee :)

sure you just set the amount of time you want it to play and then basically lay out the audio in a set number of frames whether within the main farme area or within the frame areas of objects. :)

amount of times (plural) sorry

"sure you just set the amount of time you want it to play"
with flash/actionscript or an audio app?...
so wavs and aiffs will work?..wav is best choice though?...
