curious if anyone here knows of a polish that will 'darken' chrome-like metal. i'm aiming for almost a dark grey gunmetal color. not really finding what i'm looking for on google, so i thought i'd see if anyone here knew of anything...

powder coat is more like a finish that a polish. lots of guys do it to their motocycle frames. it comes in a lot of colors. these are just the ones we use.

mitsu, an anodized or transparent powder coat finish would look hot hot hot on that thing.

ohh, ohh, more info mrdob!
where can i get this stuff?
- mrdobolina0
you're in texas, right?
Bonseff is your man, he said his company works with an ace powdercoater in your state. He can explain more about it, Im sure.

Here is a decent explanation of the process:

ahhhh, that's not what i'm looking for.
i'm probably not going to pursue this much further, but to better explain, i can almost acheive the effect i want by simply rubbing dirty grease over the metal. when it gets in the microscopic grooves created from when the metal was buffed, it give the illusion of a dark, less reflective surface.... yeah...

If you powder-coat it, it won't look metallic anymore though will it? I got a frame done once and it just looked like smooth matt black paint, maybe a bit plasticy.
Black anodizing would be a better bet.

probably right dstlb. I used to work at a bike company and our chromer did anodizing also. that shit looks NICE over chrome.

I think it only works on Aluminium, I can't remember seeing it on titanium, feel free to prove me wrong though...
